Everything you need for a week of surfing in Arugam Bay, sorted. This 8-day, 7-night surf camp package includes 6 x 2-hour morning surf lessons, 7 breakfasts, 7 dinners, beach transport every day, and a comfortable 8-bed shared dormitory at the Surf & Stays hub — a short walk from the water.

Your lessons run Monday to Saturday at 5:30 AM, catching Arugam Bay’s consistent May–October swell at their best on Arugam Bay’s world-class right-hand point breaks. Your certified instructor works with you throughout the week, building your technique session by session — from your first pop-up on day one to reading the lineup by the end of the week. Surfboards and beach transport are included every day so you can surf before and after lessons on your own time.

You stay in a sociable dorm full of like-minded surfers from around the world. Breakfasts and dinners are at the Surf & Stays hub, fuelling morning sessions and evening wind-downs. May to October is peak east coast season with consistent swell and offshore winds — Sri Lanka’s best surf window. Sunday is arrival and check-in day. Saturday is your final surf morning and check-out.

Day 1

Sunday – Arrival & Check-In

  • Arrive at Surf & Stays hub from 2:00 PM
  • Check in, meet your instructor and fellow surfers
  • Hub orientation and gear fitting
  • Dinner at the hub
  • Early night — first lesson is 5:30 AM tomorrow

Day 2

Monday – First Surf Lesson

  • 5:30 AM: First surf lesson (2 hours)
  • Beach transport provided

  • Free afternoon — explore, rest or surf solo

Your first 2-hour lesson on Arugam Bay’s beach break. Pop-up technique, paddling and wave selection. Surfboard and transport included.

Day 3

Tuesday – Surf Lesson 2

Focus on consistency — catching more waves, improving pop-up timing and riding longer.

Wednesday – Surf Lesson 3 + Midweek Check-In

Introduction to reading the lineup, positioning and timing. By now your pop-up is consistent.

Your instructor reviews your technique and adjusts the focus for the second half of the week.

Day 5

Thursday – Surf Lesson 4

  • Breakfast after session
  • Free afternoon

Focus shifts to generating speed and initiating turns. Your instructor works on your back foot positioning.

Day 6

Friday – Surf Lesson 5

  • 5:30 AM: Surf lesson 5 (2 hours)
  • Breakfast after session
  • Free afternoon — optional solo session at the beach
  • Dinner at the hub

Full wave surfing — paddling out, positioning, wave selection and riding. Your instructor refines the week’s progress.

Post-surf breakfast at the hub.

Day 7

Saturday – Final Surf Lesson & Farewell Dinner

  • 5:30 AM: Final surf lesson (2 hours)
  • Breakfast after session
  • Post-week debrief with instructor

Your last lesson of the week. Free surf with instructor guidance. Post-session video feedback and week debrief.

Physical Requirements

Basic swimming ability required. No prior surf experience needed. Moderate fitness — 6 x 2-hour surf lessons across the week.

Visa Requirements

Someone tells you the waves were good this morning. They’ll be good tomorrow too.Monday 5:15 AM your alarm goes. You don’t want to get up. You get up anyway.By 5:30 you’re on the beach in the dark with your board and your instructor. The sun comes up while you’re in the water. By 7:30 you’ve caught twelve waves and you’re eating breakfast with sand in your hair.By Wednesday something has clicked. By Friday you’re paddling out on your own before the lesson starts.Saturday morning is your last session. You don’t want it to end. That’s how you know it worked.

6 Lessons in 6 Days — Mon–Sat structure means you build on every session. By Saturday you surf differently than you did on Monday. That progression is the point.
