Overview

2-hour intermediate surf coaching in Arugam Bay. Improve turns, timing and wave selection. Performance board, leash and video feedback included. Max 4 students.

You can catch waves. Now it’s time to actually surf them. This 2-hour small-group session is built for surfers who can pop up and ride unbroken waves but want to break through the intermediate plateau and start making real turns, reading the lineup, and generating speed down the line.

Your certified instructor focuses on the three things that separate intermediate surfers from advanced ones: wave selection, positioning on the wave, and how to generate and maintain speed through turns. Arugam Bay’s long right-hand point breaks at Main Point and Whiskey Point are among the best waves in the world for practising exactly these skills — long, peeling, predictable walls that give you time to think and execute.

Maximum 4 students per session means your instructor can give individual feedback on every wave. Video analysis is included — your technique is recorded on your phone so you can see exactly where your turns are breaking down and what to fix. The session finishes with a structured debrief and a clear progression plan for your next session.

Story

Main Point is four foot and glassy. You paddle out and watch the sets for a minute before your instructor joins you in the lineup. He’s not watching you from the beach today — he’s in the water with you, calling the waves, watching your line from behind, telling you exactly when to start your turn. The first few waves you’re too early, then too late. Then he says one thing about your back foot and suddenly the board responds differently. You feel the wave instead of fighting it. By the end of the session you’ve surfed the longest ride of your life and you finally understand what everyone means about reading the wave.

Special

World-Class Point Breaks — Arugam Bay’s long right-handers are perfect for practising turns. You get the whole wave to work with, not just a two-second closeout. Small Groups, Real Feedback — Maximum 4 students per coach. Your instructor watches every wave and gives specific, actionable corrections. Video Analysis Included — Your technique is recorded on your phone. See exactly where your turns are breaking down and fix them faster. Performance Equipment — Ride proper epoxy surfboards, not soft-tops. Equipment matched to your ability level. Structured Progression — Session ends with a clear debrief and improvement roadmap, not just a handshake at the car park.
